For the sixth season in a row, there will be a different name on the Scottish League Cup after Ross County’s defence ended.

The Dingwall side’s Group D loss at Alloa Athletic means they will not progress to the second round.

Elsewhere, County’s top-flight rivals Dundee lost at Peterhead while St Johnstone had to settle for a consolation point as they lost on penalties[5] to Brechin City, who took the bonus point after a 1-1 draw.

Motherwell got their second Group F win by beating East Stirlingshire.[6]
