There’s one cup up for grabs on Sunday in MLS.
With nine games being played on the day to cap off the weekend action, the winner of the 2016 Trillium Cup, a rivalry between Toronto FC and Columbus Crew SC, will be decided.
Toronto FC and Columbus Crew have drawn twice in the first two meetings of the season (0-0 and 1-1), so Sunday’s showdown at BMO Field (7:30 pm ET, MLS LIVE in US, SN360 in Canada) will decide the winner of the regional rivalry.
The Trillium Cup dates back to 2008, and Columbus have a massive edge historically in the series, winning six out of the eight years, including last year. TFC’s last win in the series came in 2014.
All told, Crew SC are 12-5-10 all-time in MLS regular season games against Toronto, and that includes a favorable record in Toronto, as Columbus have only lost twice there in 12 matches.
So will Columbus continue their dominance, or will TFC reclaim the Trillium Cup? There’s only one way to find out, so tune in Sunday night.
